SUPERVISION

I trained as a Relate supervisor and have run a private supervision practice for 18 years.

My past work as a trainer means I am aware of current ethical and policy issues and have a good sense of the overall needs of counsellors from initial training to ongoing professional development.

I have delivered both the Certificate In Counselling Skills, the Diploma In The Theory and Practice of Counselling and various CPD courses.

My core counselling philosophy is person centred with a strong link to my earlier psycho dynamic and systemic training. I have knowledge of C.B.T. theory and techniques  and Gestalt which supplement my approach. I integrate these approaches into all my work.

This too applies to my approach to supervision. My training covered a wide range of supervision models, which allows flexibility in my working methods. I have been trained in both individual and group supervision. I have studied Hawkins and Shohet - 7 eyed model; Carroll's 7 tasks of supervision; Inskipp and Proctor, Burnham's systemic approach to supervision.

That aside, supervision, as counselling, relies on the trust, openness, safety and degree of congruence between the supervisor and supervisee. The strength of the work is based in the strength of the relationship.

I offer subsidised supervision for trainees.

TRAINING

I run counsellor training courses; CPD for a range of professionals, Assertiveness, Raising self-esteem, Peer Mentoring, Mediation Skills for Managing Staff, and will create tailor made courses for groups and organisations.
